Lipuid phase diffusion welding of Ni-base superalloy (IN 738LC) was sutdied. In this study, the surface of IN 738LC was cleaned by Ar ion beam bombardment and an alloyed layer (Ni-B alloy, Ni-Cr-Si-B alloy) was deposited on the bonding surface by sputtering. In this report, the effect of Ar ion beam bombardment on melting temperature of alloyed layer formed on base metal, penetration of allyed layer into base metal and weldability, and the effect of composition of allyed layer on melting temperature of alloyed layer were investigated. The main results indicated that: (1) The surface cleaning treatment increased penetration depth. (2) In comparison with Ni-B alloyed layer, the penetration depth of Ni-Cr-Si-B alloyed layer was about 1.3 times greater. (3) It was possible to weld the Ni-Cr-Si-B alloyed with a low wedling pressure. (4) Weldability with cleaning was better than weldability without cleaning. (5) Welding strength was the same as tensile strength of base metal, elongation and reduction of area were lower than those of base metal. But mechanical property was improved by diffusion treamtnet.
