Predictive Equation for Cooling Time t_<8/5> of CTS Test Welds

This paper deals with a new concept of the thermal severity number paying attention to the area of heat flow at 773K (500C) in the calculation of cooling time between 1073K (800C) and 773K (500C). Experimental data from CTS test welds were used to judge the applicability of the predictive equation developed using the new concept. By comparing experimental data with predicted values, the predictive equation predicts t_<8/5> of CTS test welds with an error of ∿15%.
