Abstract
We investigated about the high quarity image processing architecure for laser printer. The multi-level dithering method apply to the gray scale image. Image segmentation is made in the frame memory. Two distinct real-time image processing are made for each area at the rate the bit stream is sent to the laser driver. For monotone image, if neighboring dots match the template, appropriate change is made for the center dot. and edge raggedness is eliminated. For gray scale image, similar algorithm restores the original spot figure. This method provides more stable halftone reproduction especially for highlight image area.
