オープンキッチンの設計II  [in Japanese] A study of the open style kitchen Vol.II  [in Japanese]

Abstract

The focus of this open style kitchen design is to create a place for better communication among family members. The communication mainly occurs where family members eat and drink. Therefore, the design focuses to make a living space where cooking can occurs as family members gather together. The open style kitchen also creates a harmonious composition of three functions, cooking, dining and socializing all of which can be done in one unit. This enables family members to be face to face allowing a better atmosphere for communication Cleaning, and cooking are not the only functions of this design. Lighting effect, the flow of air and smell, including vision and sound are well considered. Aesthetic qualities are primary importance in the designing of the kitchen. The results of a survey conducted among users of this design including oil spread experiments, led to the adding of a cooker food with a fan and air curtain device as a necessary appliance.
