九州南部に分布する「ヤマラッキョウ」とされていたものは,葉が中実で雌しべの基部の蜜腺に帽子状の覆い構造が発達しないことでヤマラッキョウから区別できるので,ナンゴクヤマラッキョウAllium austrokiushuenseとして新種記載した。初島住彦によってヤクシマヤマラッキョウと呼ばれていたものはイトラッキョウに所属することが確かめられたので,新しくヤクシマイトラッキョウAllium virgunculae var. yakushimenseとした。また,アマミラッキョウA. amamianumは夕マムラサキA. pseudojaponicumと同種で,しばしばヤマラッキョウと混同されてきたこのタマムラサキは形態的にも,染色体数でも異なる明確な種であることを明らかにした。

Allium austrokyushuense, a new species endemic to southern Kyushu, is described and illustrated. The species is closely related to Allium thunbergii but is clearly distinguished from A. thunbergii by its trigonous and non-fistulose leaf. A new variety of Allium virgunculae. var. yakushimense, is also proposed, and a distinctness of Allium pseudojaponicum including "A. amamianum" is discussed.
