中国南部と南東部に産するホトトギス属の新種 A New Species of Tricyrtis (Liliaceae) from South and Southeast China

中国大陸には, Tsi(1980)はヒマラヤホトトギスTricyrtis maculata (=T. pilosa)とヤマホトトギスT. macropodaの2種のみが, Takahashi(1980)はそれらにタマガワホトトギスT. latifoliaを加えた3種が分布するとしている。しかし, 中国東部にはこれらとは異なるホトトギス属植物があることがわかった。それは花被が平関するなど花の形態はヤマジノホトトギスT. affinisやセトウチホトトギスT. setouchiensis, 及びヒマラヤホトトギスに似るが, それらより花がやや小型であること, 花被片の上半分は緑白色であること, 花被片の平開部の直ぐ下に薄橙色の斑紋(蜜標)があることなどが特徴となる。また, 茎と葉がほぼ無毛である点も重要な特徴である。花序はヤマホトトギスと同様に, 茎の先にcymose branchingsを2-3個出すタイプである。翌年の芽と根をつくる地下茎は短く, 1(-2)本しか出さないが, 翌年の春まで残ることはない。根にアントラキノン系の黄色い色素はない。これは明瞭な種と認められるので, 学名をTricyrtis viridula, 和名を基準産地の鳳陽山にちなんでホウヨウホトトギスとする。ホウヨウホトトギスは浙江省・江西省から雲南省の北東部までの暖温帯域に分布することが判明しており, ヒマラヤから中国雲南省北東部まで見られるヒマラヤホトトギスに置き換わるような分布を示す。

A new species of Tricyrtis, T. viridula, is described from south and southeast China. It is similar to Tricyrtis pilosa, T. affinis and T. setouchiensis, but the stem and the leaves are almost glabrous in contrast to the hairy ones of the latter three species. The flowers of T. viridula are rather small and the perianth has pale orange spots on the adaxial side just bellow the patent point. This species appears to have been identified with T. pilosa or T. macropoda previously.
