Abstract

九州南部から南西諸島にかけては, 染色体数の倍数性と地理的な分布域ではっきりと区別されるノジギク, サツマノギク, オオシマノジギクの3種のノジギク群の野生菊が分布している。これら3種の染色体数, 葉の毛の変異, 地理的な分布について調査し, その結果を報告した。この中で, 屋久島からトカラ列島にかけての地域の野生菊はサツマノギクと同じ8倍体の染色体数(2n=72)を持ち, その点ではサツマノギクから種として区別する必要は認めないが, 集団中に, 葉の裏のT字状の毛の粗密に著しい変異が認められるので, 変種トカラノギクとして記載した。トカラノギクは, 分布域が島として隔離されているだけでなく, サツマノギクとの中間地帯には6倍体のノジギクが分布し, 集団としても隔離の程度は高いものである。

In southwestern Japan, the Dendranthema ornatum group consists of three species. D. occidentalijaponense has hexaploid (2n=52) chromosome number, and is distributed from southwestern Honshu to Kyushu. In Kyushu, its distribution range is limited to eastern and southern parts and adjacent small islands. D. crassum has decaploid (2n=90) chromosome number, and is endemic to Amami Islands. D. ornatum has octoploid (2n=72) chromosome number and is endemic to southwestern Kyushu and Yakushima-Tokara islands. This species consists of two geographically isolated varieties : one is var. ornatum, and the other a new variety, var. tokarensis. The new variety is characterized by very wide range of hair density. Each plant has different density of white T-shape hair on the leaf beneath. The distribution range of the two varieties is interspaced by distribution zone of the hexaploid D. occidentalijaponense.
