Abstract

A simulation program for the design and the evaluation of a high performance electric vehicle is developed. The program can calculate the performance of an electric vehicle precisely when all of the values of parameters are known and it can calculate the performance even when the values of several parameters has some ambiguity. As the program can operate interactively, the calculation is made easily. The calculation of range per charge, maximum velocity, acceleration performance and energy consumption rate can be calculated by the program. As the example of the calculation, the performance of a directly driven four passengers electric vehicle where four motors are set inside each wheels is calculated. If the losses when the electric vehicle is driven is minimized by using the newest technology in tire drag, air drag, materials of body, materials of magnet for motors and semiconductor switching devices, the renge is 540 km and 270 km when 40 km/h and 100 km/h constant speed, respectivly, the maximum velocity is 180 km/h and 0 to 400 m acceleration performance is 17.5 sec.
