Following the corona charging on a free surface, the discharge currents are obtained from low density polyethylene by applying a conducting film on the charged surface. The discharge currents flow in the direction of the charging current provided the charging has been made for a sufficiently long period. A tentative explanation of this anomalous behavior is given in terms of thermally released carriers from the shallow traps surrounded by a potential barrier and their drift under the injected space charge field.
