Iodized Polymeric Yb-Diphthalocyanine Films Prepared by Plasma Polymerization Method

An iodized polymeric Yb-diphthalocyanine film was prepared by a plasma polymerization method. Iodines were simultaneously incorporated into the polymeric Yb-diphthalocyanine (pp-YbPc2) film prepared by the plasma polymerization process. The iodized pp-YbPc2 film showed iodine-phenyl bonds and coordination of iodines to pp-YbPc2 ions. In addition, because of these strong interactions, iodines were not removed from the film under a heating condition with temperatures up to 120°C. The conductivity of the iodized pp-YbPc2 film at room temperature was about two orders of magnitude higher than that of an uniodized film. The iodized pp-YbPc2 film may be applicable as a heat-resistant polymeric semiconductor.
