Abstract
Two subgenera, Boreopsis and Noteopsis, of the genus Hylaeus from Japan and Taiwan are newly described, and are discussed systematically. Hylaeus macilentus and H. ikedai belong to the subgenus Boreopsis, and H. nanseiensis and H. bridwelli (which was removed from the Japanese fauna in 1989) to the subgenus Noteopsis. H. nanseiensis is also recorded from some new localities.
