Abstract
The Japanese species of the phlaeothripine genus Psalidothrips PRIESNER are studied. The members of the genus seem to be fungus-feeders, being found in grass tussocks, on dead leaves or in leaf-litter. Seven species are included, four of them being new to science : Psalidothrips ascitus (ANANTHAKRISHNAN), P. consimilis sp. nov., P. lewisi (BAGNALL), P. oblongulus sp. nov., P. ochraceus sp. nov., P. simplus HAGA and P. spinosus sp. nov. A key is provided to these seven Japanese species.
