Abstract
Three species of the family Strongylophthalmyiidae are reported from Japan. Of these, two species of the genus Strongylophthalmyia, namely S. japonica and S. caliginosa, are described as new to science. S. crinita HENNIG is newly recorded from Japan. A key to the Japanese species is also presented.
