Abstract
Population size of adult Semanotus japonicus was estimated in a Japanese cedar stand by three estimation methods. The total occurrence number of adults in the stand in 1987 was estimated to be about 1, 000 and 1, 100 by two densityindex methods using the data of adults captured by band-traps and new emergence holes, respectively. Seasonal fluctuation of adult population size estimated by the density-index method using trapped adult data showed a similar tendency to that by JOLLY-SEBER's method except the early season. Trap efficiency for density-proportional index was evaluated to be about 55 percent.
