Abstract
The genus Rhamna PEYERIMHOFF, previously known only from Africa and Spain, is recorded for the first time from Japan. Two Japanese representatives, R. kinoshitai and R. yaeyamana are newly described. Diagnostic characters of the new species and a revised definition of the genus are given.
