A Cladistic Analysis of the Tribes of the Pentatomidae (Heteroptera)

Abstract

A cladistic analysis of 21 tribes of Pentatomidae is performed using characters derived from the external and internal morphology of adults and from eggs. Examination of character distributions on each of the resultant 180 cladograms permitted one to be selected as the best hypothesis of relationships of the pentatomid tribes. The characters supporting each clade are discussed.
