Karyotypes of Eight Species of the Genus Lordiphosa (Diptera, Drosophilidae) from Northern Japan

Abstract

The karyotypes of eight drosophilid species of the genus Lordiphosa are studied by brain cell-Giemsa staining technique. They are chromosomally classified into two major groups ; two species with the acrocentric X chromosome, Lo. tenuicauda and Lo. pseudotenuicauda, and six species with the metacentric X, Lo. collinella, Lo. clarofinis, Lo. magnipectinata, Lo. stack-elbergi, Lo. mommai and Lo. nigricolor. The present results are discussed in relation to systematic positions of these species.
