The Mouthpart Structure of Scenopinidae (Diptera)

Abstract

The mouthparts of Scenopinidae (=Scenopininae+Proratinae), macerated in KOH solution, are described and illustrated, based on a total of 7 genera and 13 species. Some notes are given to NAGATOMI, LIU and YANAGIDA (1994) on the antennal flagellum of Alloxytropus anomalus, the palpus of Caenotoides californicus and the occipital stripe pattern along foramen in the Scenopinidae. Errata are given to NAGATOMI, LIU and EVENHUIS (1994) on the genitalia of Scenopinus glabrifrons.
