Abstract

Bending test of animal femur bone and specimen 2.5mm × 2.5mm × 46mm from the bone were done using Instron universal materials testing machine as preliminary testing to obtain the substitute data of child biomaterial property which is indispensable to child finite element model with high bio-fidelity. The animal femur, 175mm in length, 145mm in span length, 25.1mm in diameter and 4.03mm in thickness of compact bone, had 229kgf bending breaking load and 0.0396 ultimate specific deflection. The bendig tests of the specimen gave 171MPa bending strength, 0.052 ultimate specific deflection and 16.6GPa elastic modulus.
