抄録

The China-Japan Joint Expedition Team surveyed marine animals in the shallow waters of Hainan Island, South China Sea, in spring and autumn of 1997. Fishes were collected around the island using primarily SCUBA and trawl nets. Some fishes were also obtained through visits to local fish markets. The collected fishes were classified into 359 species including 31 new records to China. Most new records are represented by cryptic and small fishes inhabiting coral reefs.
