車載用プレスフィットコネクタの開発  [in Japanese] The Development of Press-Fit Connector for Automobile ECU  [in Japanese]

Abstract

住友電装(株)及び(株)オートネットワーク技術研究所は車載エアバッグコントロールユニット(ECU)用プレスフィットコネクタの開発・量産化に成功した。プレスフィット接続とは基板スルーホールにその径よりも幅広の端子を圧入することによって端子-スルーホール間に機械的接触荷重を発生させて電気的接続を得る一種の無はんだ接続技術であり、電気電子機器構成材料の鉛フリー化対策(フローはんだ付け工程代替)の一つとして注目を集めている技術である。弊社では過酷な車載環境下でも充分な信頼性が得られるような端子の開発を行った。更にスルーホール挿入時の端子表面Snめっき削れによる金属剥離片の発生を防止するため、高硬度Snめっきを開発した。

Press-Fit Connector for automobile airbag electronic control unit (ECU) has been developed and transferred to mass production phase by Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. and AutoNetworks Technologies, Ltd. "Press-Fit connection" is the solder-less electrical connection technology, which utilizes the mechanical contact force occurred between the through-hole in printed circuit board (PCS) and the compliant terminal which width is slightly bigger than the through-hole diameter in PCS. This technology is beginning to attract notice as a measure against "Lead Free Requirement" for electric/electronic devices recently. In the application of this technology to the design of connector for automobile ECU, we must have considered the more severe environmental condition into terminal design. As a result, high reliable press-fit connector for automobile ECU has been developed. Furthermore we have developed "No scraping hard tin plating" on terminal which has prevented the growth of tin plating scraping in insertion process.
