Abstract
A new technique, Abel inversion in toroidal coordinates, is presented for calculating spatial distribution of an asymmetric toroidal plasma density from asymmetrical data which are obtained from plasma diagnostics on the toroidal system and in which asymmetry exists normal to the direction of observation. The observation beam is projected in the poloidal z-direction. In this numerical method, inversion matrix elements are calculated analytically. To demonstrate the usefulness of this new method in toroidal coordinates, we set up a hypothetical data set, which resulted in a valid local value.
