This paper reports on progress and results of a newly offered class, "Practical English Course." The course was opened as an exploratory TOEIC preparation class for students of Faculty of Humanities with its purpose of raising students' TOEIC scores. Several teaching procedures aiming to serve this purpose were introduced. Three TOEIC model tests were administered in order to measure students' English proficiency at different stages of the course. The average score on the reading section of the test rose somewhat for the period of three months, whereas the average score on the listening section went up remarkably.
