Abstract
A five-year clinical evaluation was made of 25 Bioceram plate-type implants in 17 posterior partial edentulous patients (6 men and 11 women). After connection of the superstructures, the clinical indices (probing depth, bleeding index, gingival index and plaque control record) were collected and roentgenograms were obtained yearly in order to evaluate the reaction of oral tissue to the implant.
The survival rate of the implants was 96%. Each of the clinical indices was reduced, and bone resorption was rarely seen on roentgenography throughout the study.
The present results indicate that Bioceram shows good biocompatibility as an implant material from a clinical standpoint.
