Abstract

Numerical simulation is becoming an effective approach to predict the springback during Sheet Metal Forming process of high-tension steel. However, the know-how of skilled techniques in industry is also indispensable, and still plays a significant role in production. This paper tends to point out that it is very important to combine the numerical simulation and the know-how in Sheet Metal Forming. A generalized database system is very necessary and must have the following 4 features: 1) easy to operate for data input; 2) capable of establishing complex relationship between simulations and know-how; 3) realization of constant technology update; 4) ability to explain various behaviors in Sheet Metal Forming. Finally, examples of such a database system are presented.
