イラク情勢と中・東欧 : ハンガリーの事例から The Iraqi Crisis and Central and Eastern Europe : The Case of Hungary

抄録

The aim of this paper is to examine Central and Eastern European policy towards Iraq and its characteristics. Especially the author places the focus on how Hungary coped with the Iraqi crisis. The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Laszlo Kovacs supported the United States when the attack on Iraq was launched. At the same time, the Hungarian government tried to avoid sending troops to Iraq. As regards post-war events, the government faced a difficult situation, when the United States asked Hungary to take part in the Iraqi peacekeeping operation. The author argues that how the situation in Iraq had an influence on Hungarian foreign and security policy. His paper consists of following section: 1. Introduction 2. The Iraqi War and US-European Relations 3. The Iraqi War and Hungary 4. The Participation in Post-war Reconstruction 5. Conclusion
