An application of adaptive equalization to partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) system in perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) channel with thermal decay is studied. The long-term bit error rate (BER) performance is evaluated by computer simulation using a thermal decay model based on the experimental data for a CoPtCr-SiO_2 PMR medium.
