本研究は、最近のアメリカにおける中等教育段階の体育カリキュラムの動向について全米で広く使用されている体育関係の単行本の中から、過去数十年にわたり、体系的に学校体育カリキュラムについて分析、整理し、独自に折衷的モデルという体育カリキュラムモデルを提案し,4版を重ねてきたCarl E. Willgoose教授の"The Curriculum in Physical Education"をさらに発展させて、新たにJ.L.Stillwellが共著者として加わり、最新のアメリカにおける体育の状況を踏まえて大幅な内容刷新がなされた"the Physical Education Curriculum (5th Edition)"を基本文献に据えて、アメリカにおける最近の中等学校体育カリキュラムの理論と内容を検討することを目的とするものである。第1報「アメリカ合衆国の中等学校における体育カリキュラムについて(I)」(大阪教育大学紀要、第V部門、54巻2号、pp.45-63、2006.2)に引き続き、特に本稿では、Willgoose, C. E.とStillwell, J. L.による、最近のアメリカの中等学校体育における10の「体育カリキュラムの理論モデル」について検討を加えた。

The purpose of this study is to examine the present condition of the secondary school physical education curriculum in the U.S.A. by Willgoose , C.E. & Stillwel,J.L., "the Physical Education Curriculum" (5th edition). This is the continued study from the previous report with the same title (I) (A Study of the Secondary Physical Education Curriculum in the U.S.A. (I) - focus on Willgoose,C.E. & Stillwel,J.L., "the Physical Education Curriculum"-, Memoirs of Osaka Kyoiku University, Ser.V.Vol.54-2.,2006, pp.45-63.). Especially, the purpose of the present study is to examine the physical education curriculum models in the U.S.A. by Willgoose, C.E. & Stillwel,J.L., "the Physical Education Curriculum" (5th edition). The finding and discussions on the following topics are presented in this paper: 1. Curriculum Theory (1) Curriculum Development, (2) Factors Affecting Curriculum Planning. 2. Basic Curriculum Models (1) The Separate Subjects Model, (2) The Broad Fields Model, (3) The Humanistic Model. 3.
