Abstract

This paper deals a monographic study of the Lepturine genus Pidonia Mulsant (1863) of the world, which contains 59 forms (incl. subspecies) under four subgenera from the distribution belt II (temperate zone) of Northern Hemisphere, including the descriptions of 1 new subgenus, 2 new species, 2 new subspecies and 8 new forms. Numerous new synonymies, new combinations, new statuses and 1 new name are also given. Firstly, the accurate sexual couples of the possible most forms and their geographical and vertical distribution patterns based on the relation of seasonal changes of the beetles, were studied in field. All the distinguished forms were secondly revised systematically, comparing with all the previously described forms, chiefly based on the type specimens and original descriptions. Thirdly, after careful consideration of the phylogenetical relation among the rather specialized diurnal (flowering) Lepturine groups of the world, genus Pidonia, the selected specific groups and possible most species were accurately ranked, accompanying with the discussion of their recent origins.
