The purpose of this study was to consider the factor, which determines "Ride" in specifically the acceleration signal on human body when running. The acceleration data were collected for five healthy male using three pair of running shoes with different mid sole structures. Subjects were instructed to run on the treadmill for 1 minute at the speed of 167m/sec. The accelerometer of three axes (longitudinal, mediolateral, and anteroposterior axis of a tibia) was placed on the medial aspect of the tibia above medial malleolus. The results of this study showed that there were significant correlations in between Ride-sense and longitudinal MPF (p<0.01), lateral maximum (p<0.05), mediolateral root mean square acceleration (p<0.05), anteroposterior MPF (p<0.05) during the first 0.1024s of the running stance phase, respectively. These findings indicate that longitudinal, mediolateral and anteroposterior acceleration may contribute to consider the factor of "Ride" during running.
