Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate characteristics of wind flow over complex terrain, especially focused on the effect of hill slope on wind energy reslources and turbulent characteristics. Wind tunnel experiments have been carried out to measure the mean velocity and turbulence characteristics of wind flow over two-dimensional hills with varous slopes. The measurements are compared with the results from numerical analysis using k-ε model. We have found that the hill slope has large effect on the wind energy resources and the turbulence characteristics around hill.
