抄録

Meihan highway is known as one of the worst accident frequent occurrence area in Japan. The representative accident factors in Meihan highway are a chronic overspeed and a complexity of the road shape such as sharp curves and sharp slope. There is a section called as "Omega curve", because the road shape is similar to a Greek character Ω. In this study, the Omega curve environment is reproduced on the realtime driving simulator. An improved road shape of Nakahata section, which is one of the complex curve in the Omega curve, is proposed in this paper. Driving simulator experiments clarified the problems of the current road shape of the section, and verified the safety effect of the improved road shape.
