Abstract
We re-determined zeta values for zircon and apatite fission track dating, using diallyl phthalate (DAP) detectors and the modified observation system with newly installed HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS^<TM> digital CCD camera and TOUCH PANEL SYSTEMS^<TM> monitor. To minimize the human exposure to radioactivity after the sample irradiation, S-DAP detector was tested for apatite analyses and compared to the Q-DAP detector. The resulting zeta values are: 385 ± 4 (ED1) and 352 ± 4 (ED2) for zircon combined with Q-DAP detectors, and 300 ± 4 (ED1) and 321 ± 4 (ED1) for apatite with S-DAP and Q-DAP detectors, respectively. Data of the Durango Apatite were excluded from zeta value calculation due to contribution of fast-neutron-induced tracks of Th in the sample.
