日英技術翻訳におけるエラーの分析、および分析結果に基づいた技術翻訳評価システムの開発(情報提示・連携技術,テーマ:「テクニカルな知識流通・共有におけるドキュメント作成・管理技術,および応用」)  [in Japanese] Development of a System for Evaluating Technical Translations Based on Analysis and Classification of Technical Translation Errors  [in Japanese]

ネイティブの英語エディターが、大量の技術文書の日英翻訳を、調査、分析した結果、かなり高い頻度で翻訳エラーが含まれていることがわかった。翻訳品質を向上させるためには、翻訳の評価システムが必要であると考え、翻訳エラーの分析結果を利用して、翻訳評価システムTES(Translation Evaluation System)を開発した。TESを利用して翻訳品質を評価した結果を翻訳会社に示すことで、納品時の翻訳品質を向上させることができた。本報告では、TES開発のプロセス、TESの概要、およびTESを利用した評価方法を述べる。

This paper describes TES (Translation Evaluation System),a system for evaluating the quality of Japanese-to-English technical translations. The paper describes how TES was developed based on an analysis of the most common errors in a large number of technical translations, and describes how TES is used to evaluate and improve the quality of technical translations.By providing objective feedback about quality to translation companies and translation purchasers, TES has greatly improved the quality of delivered translations.
