我が国における生活の質とスポーツ-社会学的価値の理解をもとにして-  [in Japanese] A Sociological Perspective on the Relationship between Quality of Life and Sports in Japan  [in Japanese]

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine how qualitative improvement of life is related to sports. Quality of life is determined by social values, which are based on people's desire. Social values are assumed to be one of the highest values as well as life values. The highest values are truth, goodness, beauty, and happiness. Life values include pleasure, profit, love, and justice. The assumption which sports improves quality of life reveals that sports is based on pleasure value and that three other values are subordinated under pleasure value. It must be link to realizing happiness value. At the real situations, however, profit value happens to be the base value of sports in Japan. It must not link to realizing happiness value. One way to solve this problem is to diffuse the connotation which sports should be regarded as liberal arts. In a contemporary Japanese society, a shift in the value structure from economic priority to human priority is desirable. The possibility of changing the value structure in sport world is very high. In this means, improving one's quality of life through sports participation will become a prototype of our society in the 21st century. And to accelerate the change of value structure in sport world, the interdisciplinary study on sports related to quality of life must be developed in sports and health science.
