Karyomorphological Studies in Parnassia yunnanensis var. longistipitata in Sichuan Province, China

Abstract

Parnassia yunnanensis var. longistipitata collected in Sichuan Province, China, was karyomorphologically studied. This species was characterized with the resting nucleus of the simple chromocenter type, the mitotic prophase chromosomes of the proximal type and the 2n=32 median-centromeric chromosomes at mitotic metaphase. This chromosome number was new to the species and the basic chromosome number of X=8 led from 2n=32 was new to the Chinese species of the genus.
