銀河形成における光電離の効果(銀河の形成,研究会報告) EFFECTS OF THE PHOTOIONIZING BACKGROUND ON GALAXY FORMATION

Abstract

We investigate the effects of the observed UV background radiation on galaxy formation. In the CDM model, we use the criterion that self-shielding of the gas in halos against the photoionizing background radiation is essential for star formation to calculate the mass function of galaxies and its evolution with time based on both Press-Schechter and the peaks formalisms. We further discuss the implication of this biasing mechanism for the number counts of galaxies.
