Abstract
The trend of clinical use of herbal medicine is discussed. Recently, some of these substances have been prescribed for children. However, it has only been 20 years since herbal medicine has been widely used in the field of pediatric surgery. Some of the principal herbal medicines used for daily treatment in pediatric surgery today are Rikkunshi-to for gastric motility disorders ; Daikenchu-to for ileus and constipation ; Inchinko-to for biliary atresia. The results of treatment using these medicines have been better with EBM than the results without any prescription.
