日本語語彙の変遷 : 「統治」の展開  [in Japanese] Transition of a Japanese Term : Expansion of Tochi(Liberal Arts)  [in Japanese]

「統治」という語は日本社会ひいては日本思想のあり方を考察しようとするとき、そのてがかりを与えてくれる語である。本稿では、和語「すべおさむ」を語源として成立した「統治」の現代的展開の諸相を解明しようとした。すなわち本稿では、「統治行為論」として生き延びてきた「統治」という語は、和語「すべおさむ」の原義を引きずりながら用いられていることが示されているのである。

Studying the formation and diversification of meaning of Japanese term tochi provides us with clues to analyzing the society and thoughts in Japan. This article clarifies contemporary expanding processes of meaning of tochi, whose origin is in subeosamu, a traditional Japanese word. It will be demonstrated that, while it has extended its life from being used in such an expression as tochi koiron, the term tochi still retains its original meaning derived from subeosamu.
