文学の文法的読み方 : 『吾輩は猫である』をめぐって  [in Japanese] Reading Literary Works Grammatically : The Case of "I AM a Cat"(Liberal Arts)  [in Japanese]

文学作品は、作者が「ことば」の特性を最大限に使いこなして創作したものである。本稿では、「ことばのしくみ=語彙選択や文法」によって、その文学作品を読み解く方途を探っている。書き手が選んだ「ことばのしくみ」の特質が明らかになれば、読み手は、作品のイメージを明確に捉えることができる。素材として、日本の文豪、夏目漱石の最初の小説であり、誰もが一度は読んだことがある『吾輩は猫である」を取り上げた。

A writer creates a literary work utilizing characteristics of words to the maximum. This article investigates a way of reading such a work with understanding of the structure of words: the writer's choice of words and her/his use of grammar in it. The understanding of the structure of words used by the writer will enable readers to get a clear image of the work. This study deals with "I AM a Cat" written by Soseki Natsume, one of the greatest writers in Japan, for it is the first novel of him and most of the Japanese have read it at least once.
