授業改善のためのアクション・リサーチ  [in Japanese] Action Research for Better Teaching(Liberal Arts)  [in Japanese]

この稿は、授業改善のためのアクション・リサーチを紹介し、さらなる普及を目指すものである。まず、アクション・リサーチとはどういうものかについて概観し、次に筆者の行った英語力の格差の大きいクラスで、読む能力と書く能力を効果的に伸ばすことをテーマにしたアクション・リサーチの実践例を紹介する。その中で、特にシャドウイングは、英語力が高い学生にも低い学生にも、英語力の向上に役立つと実感できるトレーニングであるということを示した。教育の現場には理論と実践のギャップがあることもあり、学生のニーズに応えるためにも教育現場にいる教師のアクション・リサーチが必要である。アクション・リサーチは授業改善のための重要な要因の1つである。

The aim of this paper is to introduce and spread action research in order to offer better classes. Firstly, I present an overview of action research. Secondly, I offer an instance of my action research in order to show a concrete example. One of the results shows that the students feel that shadowing, in particular, is a very effective training method regardless of their English abilities. I believe there often seems to be a sizable gap between theory and practice in the field of education. Therefore, we need to have school-based action research done by practitioners to meet students' needs. I contend that action research is one of the most important factors that will change classes for the better.
