Abstract
ミリ波通信大衆化の時代が間近に迫っている。ミリ波通通信機器を経済的に小型に実現するためには、ミリ波集積回路(MMIC)の開発が必須である。本報告では、ミリ波通信システムの課題とミリ波MMICの動向を概観した後、アンテナ内蔵MMICの小型化、高機能化を図るため、最近注目されているメタマテリアルのICへの集積化を提案する。
Millimeter-wave communication systems will be introduced to consumer market in the near future. Development of millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs) is indispensable for realizing small, cost-effective communication equipments. After addressing the problems in millimeter-wave communication systems as well as reviewing the present status of millimeter-wave MMIC's, we propose the integration of metamaterial-based antennas with MMIC's in order to reduce the size and to increase the functionality of MMIC's.
