Abstract

Synchronous rotating cavitation is known as one type of some cavitation instability, which causes shaft vibration or head loss. The cavitation instabilities are affected by interference of the tip leakage vortex catitation with adjacent blade. In the present study, we focused on the influences of the inducer configuration on synchronous rotating cavitation with two different inducers. It was found that unevenness of the cavity length differs by the configuration of the inducer. In addition, we estimated fluid force to evaluate the degree of hydraulic force acting on the inducer. The fluid force increased rapidly at the onset of synchronous rotating cavitation.
