Abstract

A cross-flow wind turbine showed higher performance in the wind condition near a structure like a building with Inlet Guide Structure (IGS) and Flow Deflector (FD), which were introduced to improve the flow condition near a structure for the wind turbine performance, than without them. The effects of Flow Deflector for the performance were remarkable. But It was not defined which setting condition of Flow Deflector for flow direction just upstream of a wind turbine is the best to get the highest performance. So, we tried to find the optimum condition of Flow Deflector for the performance of a cross-flow wind turbine by using Flow Separator to get simple similar inlet flow condition (Inlet Flow Model) to the flow near a structure.
