Abstract

A cross flow wind turbine has on advantage of no wind dependency. However, it has the disadvantage that performance deteriorates by pump action. In this research, it aimed at the performance improvement by calculating the torque that acted on each wing the cross flow wind turbine by using CFD, calculating the wing where the torque of the minus had been generated. And installing the guide vane that disturbed the inflow of the wind to the wing outside of the cross flow wind turbine. Moreover, effectiveness of the guide vanes and analytical accuracy were verified by experiments with a similar model.
