The popularization of both small-sized and large-sized wind turbines is indispensable for the popularization of wind power generation. Though many small-sized wind turbines are manufactured in the world, most of them are not suitable for the special wind conditions in Japan, which are characterized by frequent change of wind direction and heavy turbulence. This paper describes the results of the characteristics test of a small-sized perpendicular-axis type wind turbine to identify the conditions of a small-sized wind turbine suited to Japanese wind conditions.
