Abstract
Recently, water hydraulic system is expected as an environmental friendly drive system because it uses pure water as pressure medium. This study aims to develop a low pressure water hydraulic planetary gear motor which is driven by low pressure as same as general tap water network system pressure. Fundamental characteristics of a prototype are measured. In this report, the basic structure and performance principle of the motor is introduced and some experimental results are presented. Its maximum output power was about 12W and the total efficiency was about 40% by an original prototype. In order to improve them, the effects of pressure drop in the flow paths inside the motor and frictional resistance on a shaft seal are examined and those results are also presented.
