Abstract
Due to the coming advanced age and few-birthrate society, there may not be enough working people in various fields such as medical welfare, agriculture and so on. Especially, the lack of caregiver and the increase of elderly will become a serious problem. In such a situation, it is expected to develop a power assist device for elderly and disabled people. The purpose of this study is to develop a wearable power assist device to support an activity of daily living safely and easily. For realizing such a device, a small sized, lightweight and soft mechanism is required. In this paper, the mechanism and control method of a developed standing motion assist device driven with pneumatic rubber artificial muscle is described.
