Abstract
In order to clarify the vortex structure interacting with the trailing vortices behind vehicle, the experimental flow analysis has conducted. First, the measuring area was focused around trunk deck as the upstream region of the trailing vortices. The velocity distribution in this area was analyzed in wind tunnel. The result shows that the region of low velocity and high velocity fluctuation exists upon the trunk deck in vehicle generated high aerodynamic drag. Furthermore, the velocity vector and the total pressure distributions were measured around trunk deck and its upstream region. The result shows that the backspin interaction generated between the separation vortex in front pillar and the trailing vortex on the trunk deck causes the increase of trailing vortex and aerodynamic drag.
