The purpose of this study is to develop a new analytic method that can provide local growth rate of any mode, and estimate the transition point. Growth of a disturbance in a flat plate boundary layer is investigated by a spectral method. The neutral stability curve obtained by the new method is shifted to a higher wave number direction, compared to the conventional linear stability theory.
